Quantum Diaries Career Week is here!
What is it like to be a physicist? What do physicists work on? How can I become one?

If you've ever been curious about a career in physics, just ask a professional! Physicists from universities and laboratories around the world will be on hand to answer your questions about what it takes to become one of them during Quantum Diaries Career Week. Just submit your questions at http://www.interactions.org/quantumdiaries/career_week/ from Monday, May 23, to Friday, May 27 (that's this week!), and a Quantum Diarist will respond. Read their answers at http://blogs.quantumdiaries.org/37/.

Career Week

Why physics?
Quantum Diarists kick off Career Week by discussing why they chose physics as a profession. Gordon Watts reveals that "there was a year where I really wasn't sure what I was going to do and even started to take steps out of the field." After flirting with a career in computer programming, he decided to stick with physics. "Sure, I work long hours, travel a lot, but I don't think I'd trade it for anything," he writes.

Tommaso Dorigo was drawn to physics at a young age. "I think I came to love physics when I understood that simple laws could explain very complex phenomena - like why a lake won't completely freeze in the winter, thereby allowing life to continue inside," he writes.
