VERITAS
Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System. A ground-based gamma-ray observatory that detects optical flashes in the atmosphere produced by air showers generated by cosmic gamma-rays in the GeV—TeV energy range. VERITAS studies cosmic acceleration mechanisms and exotic objects such as supernovae remnants and active galactic nuclei. It will also search for dark matter in our galaxy.
