Join SURF to learn how theory becomes an experiment--and what it take to engineer a world-leading experiment like the LUX-ZEPLIN dark matter detector. Panelists include Cham Ghag, spokesperson for LZ; Dan Hooper, theoretical physicist at Fermilab; and Charles Maupin, SURF engineer. Gavin Cox, experiment support scientist at SURF, will serve as panel moderator.
"Dark Matter Day: From theory to experiment," begins at 5 p.m. with a social hour at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center. The social includes light snacks and beverages, as well as free beer from Crow Peak Brewing Company (guests must be 21 years and older to drink).
