We cordially invite you to a popular science lecture with an astrophysicist on the occasion of Dark Matter Day 2025. Dr. Sebastian Trojanowski, a theoretical physicist specialising in astrophysics and particle cosmology, will talk about the search of dark matter.
‘He stopped the Sun and set the Earth in motion!’ Undoubtedly, the Copernican revolution was one of the most important stages in the development of science, but it was quite slow to break through into the public consciousness. This was partly due to resistance to accepting the broader implications of Copernicus' discovery, related to the position of humans in the cosmos around us. Over the next few hundred years, we gained much deeper knowledge on this subject. The last few decades have been rich in new astronomical observations, further disrupting our image of the Universe, which only slightly reveals its secrets, but hides many more unknowns. At the meeting, we will talk about one of the greatest mysteries of modern science, which concerns the nature and search of dark matter.

Dr. Trojanowski received his Ph.D. degree in physics from the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) in Poland in 2015. He then continued his career with three long-term postdoctoral positions: at the University of California, Irvine (2016–2018), the University of Sheffield in the UK (2018–2020), and at AstroCeNT, NCAC PAS (2020–2023). He subsequently worked as an Assistant Professor at NCBJ until he rejoined Astrocent in 2025 to become a member of the Particle Astrophysics Theory team.
